Jim Gill
Jim Gill, PE, LEED AP represents Malachite LLC on client engagements related to building energy use, energy audits, renewable energy, and construction and facilities management. Mr. Gill, a licensed professional engineer, is a specialist in alternative energy and building energy efficiency and has over 25 years of experience in construction and facilities management, environmental remediation and project engineering.
A LEED Accredited Professional, Mr. Gill has built, opened, upgraded, or moved over 45 facilities in the US, the UK, Canada, Germany, and Japan, managed numerous tenant buildouts, and worked on construction and remodeling projects ranging from office buildings and single-family homes to hospitals and wastewater treatment plants.
Mr. Gill’s experience encompasses both commercial and residential real estate. His recent sustainability work has included conducting Energy Star Certification and energy audits on commercial and residential buildings. He is certified by RESNET (the Residential Energy Services Network) to conduct HERS (Home Energy Rating) evaluations. Mr. Gill has served as a consultant to new wind ventures on turbine tower foundation work, managed the installation of a solar thermal system and consulted in sustainable storm-water diversion design. He also is an instructor on sustainable energy for the built environment in numerous venues, including at the college level.
Mr. Gill’s residential energy work has included both modern and historic structures. He is certified by RESNET (the Residential Energy Services Network) to conduct HERS (Home Energy Rating) evaluations.
Before joining Malachite LLC, Mr. Gill was a Senior Construction Manager for URS, Inc. In this capacity, Mr. Gill served as a senior project manager for a $170 million regional retail development and construction program in the Chicago area. In this assignment, he managed general contractors, subcontractors and vendors, and was responsible for cost control, landlord coordination and end-product quality management. While with URS, Mr. Gill also conducted front end site, architectural and MEP surveys of client leased space to help determine project feasibility. In earlier work with the company, Mr. Gill managed large environmental remediation projects throughout the Midwest.
Mr. Gill has also worked as a senior project manager for Rockwell Electronic Commerce in both domestic and international locations. In this role, he managed complex projects incorporating extensive IT related infrastructure such as cabling, raised floor, supplementary HVAC and UPS for servers, hubs, PBX, and VM systems. In these assignments, Mr. Gill conducted lease negotiations, selected design and construction services, oversaw construction, performed final inspections/acceptances, furnished and equipped offices, and managed moves.
Mr. Gill holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering from Cleveland State University.
