Shari Shapiro

Shari Shapiro, JD, LEED AP is an attorney and LEED Accredited Professional who works with Malachite LLC’s clients and their legal counsel in the areas of regulatory drafting, land use approvals, contracts, conflict resolution and sustainable project financing. She also practices law with the firm of Obermayer, Rebmann, Maxwell and Hippel.

Ms. Shapiro is the Co-Chair of the ABA State and Local Government Section Subcommittee on Land Use/Environmental Law, and is the Secretary of the Delaware Valley Green Building Council.

Ms. Shapiro was named a 2009 “Lawyer on the Fast Track” by the Legal Intelligencer. Ms. Shapiro has been featured in the Philadelphia Inquirer, ABA Journal, Lexis/Nexis, Treehugger.com and Greenerbuidings.com. Her blog on legal issues related to green building is available at www.greenbuildinglawblog.com. She has also appeared on MSNBC to discuss the green aspects of U.S. economic stimulus spending.

Ms. Shapiro earned her Juris Doctorate degree from the University of Pennsylvania where she received the Milton C. Sharp Award for Best Grades/Best Research in Urban Renewal or Land Use Planning. While attending the University of Pennsylvania, she obtained a Certificate in Business and Public Policy from the Wharton School of Business. She holds a B.A. from Brown University.
